Once Upon a Younger Looking You…..

“Because it’s never too late to be all that you can be”

I know we all want to look the best we can at any age.  I am not suggesting looking like a different person than you are, just refreshed.  I know if you  are over the age of 35, you surely have been guilty of pulling the sides of your face back and reminiscing over your youth, CLOSELY examining ever fine line and wrinkle and hoping each morning when you get up that a younger version of yourself will miraculously greet you in the mirror!

It seems like a lot of us would really like to come out of the closet about fillers. we think about them, read about them, have lots of questions about them..but don’t always TALK about them with others.

Well, I would just like to say that I for one, think that these are perfecctly acceptable and if it gets you through the day and lifts you up..then it 2421936996_a0785b2b4b_b221is a good thing.  As I said earlier though, you should only be looking for a refreshed version of yourself..not looking to become someone different.  That said..I think that fillers could be a real pick me up for the Mature Bride. However…you must do your homework.  Look at the persons background who will be performing the services, check out any reviews they have on the internet.  There is always a possibility for mishaps  with these  kind of things, especially if you are dealing with someone who is not skilled in what they are doing. Do your homework, and make sure the person is qualified.

We are going to be doing several different articles on fillers, the first being Restylane.

Restylane is the trade name for a specific formulation of non-animal sourced hyaluronic acid most commonly used for lip augmentation. In the United States, Restylane has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for cosmetic injection into subdermal facial tissues.[ Restylane is injected under wrinkles and aging lines of the face such as the nasolabial folds, melomental folds, “crow’s feet” and forehead wrinkles. It may also be used for filling aging-related facial hollows and “orbital troughs” (under and around the eyes). The process has a fast recovery time of 2 to 3 days. However, it is not permanent; reapplication is recommended approximately every six months. Costs can run anywhere between $425 and $525 USD per syringe

Side effects could be slight redness and  bruising…and to be honest I have heard that bruising can be fairly common, but not so severe it can’t be covered by makeup.

01122I actually got some Restylane in the nasiolabial folds  (those dreaded lines from the nose to the mouth) recently from Marie Strickland , who is the clinic director  for A Beautiful You MedSpa in Cedar Park, Texas.  Marie has had 7 years of experience in non-surgical skin care, she has trained with many talented physicians such as Dr. Stephen Mulholland , Dr. Patrick Bitter Sr. and Dr. Patrick Bitter Jr., she also has had many years of hands on experience in skin care treatments.

Marie grew up with many hardships and  feeling that she was not pretty.  She overcame many obstacles to get where she is today.  She feels like she was guided into this field because she has such compassion for the women who come to her and knows from experience what it is like to want to feel good about yourself. I think she is a perfect example of never giving up on your dreams!  It seems that even through our hardships, God may be preparing us for something else.

When you first go in Marie will discuss what you feel you problem areas are and offer advice as to how to treat those areas.  The consulation is free.  You can proceed with the treatments at that time if you wish.

Marie has a very warm and inviting atmostphere, she will have you lay back on her table and she will give you a numbing cream on the areas015111 she is going to inject.  This takes about 10 – 15 minutes.  Then she will give you a cozy stuffed animal to hold..because girls…this hurts…stings..it doesn’t seem as bad after it’s over, but it does hurt. It is however very bearable and is usually over fairly quickly ..15 to 20 minutes.  There will be some blood and possibly some swelling, she will immediately give you some ice packs to put on those areas.    Some women will bruise and some won’t, there is just no way to know.

Marie gave me a mirror and the results are immediate!  The lines are plumped and filled!  The thing I really like about Marie is that she is very artistic, which is sooooo important.  She is able to look at your face and visualize what you need,  where and just the right amount so it just looks fresh, not fake.

I was lucky, I had no bruising whatsoever…some of the fullness went down after a few days, but as I said, it just looked refreshed, nobody would have noticed had I not told them..but I felt better when I looked in the mirror and that made the most difference!  These results should  last about 6-9 months and I highly recommend Marie!
